IS THERE ALCHOHOL FOR SALE IN MOROCCO?

Morocco is a Muslim country, and Tamraght where Shaka Surf Morocco is based is a dry village which means you won’t be able to buy any booze or find and “bars”. In the city of Agadir, you can buy alcohol in selected supermarkets and there is a range of restaurants and bars which serve alcohol.

You are welcome to consume your alcohol at our camp, and enjoy a post-surf, sun-downer on the rooftop terrace.

WHAT TO BRING

WHAT DO I NEED TO PACK?

Here are some of our top "do not forget" items we suggest you bring - suncream (waterproof), sunglasses, a hat, a beach towel, flip-flops, a camera, and a book. You can read more on our surf holiday essentials blog here.

DO I NEED TO BRING TOWELS?

We provide you with towels for showering, but you will need to bring a beach towel.

WHAT CLOTHING SHOULD I BRING?

Morocco is a liberal Muslim country, in the area where we are based it is not uncommon for men and women to dress in shorts and t-shirts. On the beach, you will find men in swim shorts and women in bikinis, but nudity is not experienced here. Bring plenty of beach clothes and we advise that you also bring a couple of jumpers and some jeans for the evening, as this is when the temperature will drop a little, particularly in the wintertime.

THE SURF

WHAT’S THE SURF LIKE?

The surf in Morocco is all year round - so no time is a bad time to visit. There are over 15 surf spots, all within easy reach ranging from beach breaks to some more famous and challenging point breaks. We are positioned in a location which means you have access to some spots by foot, others are easy to reach by car.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO COME SURFING?

In theory, there are waves all year round in our region, however, the size and frequency of these waves vary over the year. We believe that the perfect time of year to visit depends on your level, please see our recommendations below

Beginners: all year round

Intermediates: September - May

Advanced: November - March

DO YOU OFFER LESSONS FOR DIFFERENT LEVELS?

Yes, absolutely! We offer surf lessons for all levels from first-time surfers through to advanced intermediate surfers looking to increase their technique and wave count.

HOW LONG ARE THE LESSONS?

Our surf lessons are daily, in the morning, and last for 2.5 hours including warm-up and surf theory on the beach.

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE IN MY GROUP?

We keep our surf lesson ratios low, at just 4 students per instructor. We believe this gives you the best chance to progress with more attention and personalized feedback.

I AM AN ABSOLUTE BEGINNER - IS THIS OK?

Never surfed before? No worries, our surf coaches are experienced in teaching all levels of surfers. Come catch your first wave with us!

YOUR HOLIDAY

CAN I ARRIVE ON ANY DAY OF THE WEEK?

We have no set arrival or departure days, so you are free to arrive any day of the week and stay for any length of time. We would recommend you stay for at least 3 days in order to get the most out of your surf experience with us.

WHAT’S THE WEATHER LIKE IN MOROCCO?

Morocco has over 330 days of sunshine a year, so day wear consists of shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops. However, it does get chilly the moment the sun comes down, so a pair of jeans and a hoody is often worth packing (especially in the winter months).

CAN I BRING MY FAMILY?

Yes, of course! We offer surf lessons and accommodation for all age ranges. We’d love to host your family here at Shaka Surf Morocco.
