TAGHAZOUT SKATEPARK

December 2017, 100 volunteers came together to build a world class skatepark in Taghazout, creating a skate legacy and one epic community space in just 3 weeks! This project was initiated by Make Life Skate Life which is a 100% volunteer run, non profit organisation working with skate communities around the world to create safe, accessible, free-of-charge skateparks.

The Taghazout skatepark was created on public land with support from the local government, local businesses and community. The location is spot on, just above Taghazout village (picture insane panoramic views over the ocean) and easily accessible by foot from the village or by car from the surrounding areas. It’s no wonder that since it’s opening over 2 years ago it has been a popular skate hub and public space.

Why we Love Taghazout SkatePark and THE MAKE LIFE SKATE LIFE INITIATIVE…

  1. Community, community. community. From the get go, this project worked in partnership with the local community, skate community and local government.

  2. The gift that keeps on giving. The professional skate park builders worked alongside local volunteers sharing their knowledge and skills of constructing a safe skatepark from scratch.

  3. Own it. The Taghazout Skatepark Association was formed from community members to manage and run the site on a daily basis continuing the cycle of local ownership and responsibility.

  4. You are Welcome. The friendly and inclusive environment at the skatepark has created an open community where locals and tourists from beginners through to professional all share and support each other in once space.

  5. Surfers. For surfers, when not surfing the waves the opening of the skatepark has created a new offering and chance to explore and test balance skills on the concrete waves.
